What is the Philly Grassroots Cup?

CASA & Safe-Hub present: the Philly Grassroots Cup! This tournament and city-wide celebration of soccer is for all ages, bringing back the vibes from the previous Philly World Cup tournaments in lead-up to the FIFA Men's World Cup!

Over several weeks from May 30 - July 19, players and teams from across Philadelphia will take the field, representing 32 countries in a World Cup-style format that highlights the city’s passion for the game. With all teams outfitted in custom designed Icarus FC jerseys tailored to their country's culture, there's no doubt they'll be represented in style.

CASA will lead the adult competition over the span of 8-weeks with 11v11 Open and 7v7 Women's+ divisions, while Safe-Hub will anchor the youth programming with 6v6 divisions for four age groups: U11 Open, U13 Boys, U13 Girls, U16 Open.

How does it work if I want to register a full team?

  • A captain/coach must submit a free application (links above) to enter a review process in order to register a full team
  • In order to get approved, a captain/coach may be asked about the player nationalities and backgrounds to ensure proper representation of the country applied for
  • Team applications will be reviewed from January - March 2026
  • The application does not serve as a team registration, but if approved, will lock in the pricing during the application
  • The review process may take anywhere from 1 - 10 weeks, depending on the proximity to the tournament
  • Once approved, the captain/coach will be sent a registration link to secure the team's spot
  • Have a team to enter, and an associated sponsor for your team as well? Reach out to us directly!

How does it work if I want to register as an individual player?

  • Anyone 18+ can register as free agent (individual player)
  • During registration, you'll be asked a series of questions to help us gauge your nationality and background to place you on a team/country best fit
  • Players will be placed anywhere from 1-4 weeks before the start date, or in some cases, sooner
  • Once you are placed you will be connected with the team captain/coach

What do the registration fees go towards?

CASA and Safe-Hub are running the Grassroots Cup at-cost - meaning that all tournament expenses are directly covered by both sponsorships and team / player paid registration fees. Registration fees go towards items such as jerseys, field rentals, trophies & awards, and hosting the final event!
