Sunday Georgie 1 - 0 Bench Mob FC

When it comes to squad depth and the ability to adjust on the fly, Bench Mob FC have been the glowing example of what it means to fortify a roster in CASA. It would take their incredibly deep roster to contend with Sunday Georgie, currently snuggled up all by themselves in 1st place, as the Mob had numerous starters out due to match fitness and their sudden case of Red Octoberitis (Go Phils!) which led to a formation change on the back. Bench Mob saw their best chance in the first half get pushed just wide of the far post, Sunday Georgie had their fair share of chances but were also unlucky resulting in a scoreless draw to end the first half.

From the start of the second half, both teams came out with tenacity, leaving everything out there knowing the result of this match could be the catalyst for the rest of the season. The Mob were looking dangerous in the final third and were on the verge of breaking the stalemate until a mental lapse in the 6yd box led to an unfortunate deflection to give the division leaders a 1-0 lead with just minutes remaining. The Mob threw numbers forward in those final moments, desperately searching for the equalizer, with the defense pressing higher up the pitch, the Mob gave it their all but would come up short and suffer their first loss of the season while Sunday Georgie celebrated their 6th straight victory. Sunday Georgie will have their first big test next week when they square off with 2nd place TBC FC and Bench Mob have to contend with the always scrappy FC BTC who can pull out a win, even against the toughest opponents.
