Trading Laces come out on top in shootout with Sanko

Week 1 found Sanko FC and Trading Laces FC on the wrong end of a pair of 1-0 results, Sanko FC was dominant last season and looked to be a shoe-in for promotion.  To start their fall season being shut out was a gut check. Newcomers, Trading Laces FC had no real expectations and were looking to just get on the score sheet. It would take long for them to do so, just 10 minutes in #13 Narimov made a nice run into the box to slot home the opener, just a few moments later they would double their lead after a shot hit the crossbar and fell favorably to #49 Grant. Sanko FC would finally generate some offense and found themselves awarded with a PK for a harsh foul in the box that #10 Boateng would easily convert. Boateng would then tie the game just a few minutes later after rounding the GK who was caught way off his line and both teams would settle for a 2-2 first half.

The 2nd half was as, if not more, exciting than the first half, with Trading Laces taking the lead only to allow Sanko to come back level 3 different times. The game would get more physical and the fouls became more persistent as the game went on with Trading Laces FC calling their own fouls like they were taking part in an AND1 mixtape. After relinquishing the lead for the 3rd time, it looked like a hard-fought, yet disappointing draw would be the final outcome for Trading Laces FC, It would be in the final minutes of the match that their luck would change, after suffering a foul in the box that was incorrectly given as a free kick just outside the 18 (thanks to the double lines on the goal box) Trading Laces FC would see their initial cross deflected out but would win back possession and a 2nd cross that was lofted into the box towards the far post to #61 French who headed in the go-ahead goal with less than 5 minutes remaining. It was a tough loss for Sanko FC who at times looked like the much better team but were unable to convert their chances in front of goal, their inability to finish would allow their opponent to escape with their first win of the season. Sanko FC will look to turn their season around in week 3 against Strikers - Inter.
